EXACTLY 40 YEARS AGO TO THE DAY APOLLO 11 TOOK OFF ON A QUEST FOR THE MOON.

T-minus 00:5:59 and counting...

On July 16th 1969 at 9:32AM EDT APOLLO 11 carrying American astronauts Neil Armstrong, Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, and Michael Collins lifted off from Cape Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida. 4 days later on the 20th July, HISTORY is made when the spaceship touches down on the surface of the moon and the astronauts become the first ever humans to reach that mysterious white ball in the night sky.

Quotes: "2 minutes, 10 seconds and counting. The target for the Apollo astronauts, the moon, at lift-off, will be at a distance of 218,096 miles away."
"LIFT-OFF, WE HAVE A LIFT-OFF, 32 minutes past the hour, lift-off on Apollo 11, tower cleared!"
"Down range 1 mile, altitude 3... 4 miles now, velocity 2,195 feet per second."
"Set 8 miles down range, 12 miles high, velocity 4,000 feet per second."
